In my last column I noted that the "lame scream" media had virtually called Obama the winner of the first debate, prior to its happening. I said that all Obama had to do was show up in a clown suit and flip-flops, and the media would say that his appearance was a daring and brilliant move designed to challenge the status quo and to reveal his human side.

My point was that as long as Obama shows up he would easily close the deal with the electorate and all he would have to do for the last 33 days of the campaign is sail with Beyonce, Jay-Z, David Letterman and the ladies on "The View."

Well, if you listen to the commentators and pundits over at the Obama Campaign Headquarters, er, I mean at MSNBC, the President never showed up.

It was truly embarrassing to watch as Chris Matthews blew a head gasket over Obama's lack of aggressiveness (or rather assertiveness).  Why, even on NBC's Today Show Thursday, Matthews continued to whine over the President's poor debate performance and ranted that Mitt Romney has "been accused of etch-a-sketch, last night was his greatest achievement. Everything he said within days ago, he's ignored."

FOX News' Dan Gainor commented that for MSNBCers, it was "a sign of The End Times." He called Matthews the "Perennial Obama Fan Club President" and said Matthews lamented the whole ordeal, whining this “wasn’t an MSNBC debate, was it? It just wasn’t.”

Prior to Matthews' appearance, co-host Savannah Guthrie noted that he had been "very vocal" during MSNBC's post-debate coverage and played a sound bite of the Hardball host blasting Obama: "I don't know what he was doing out there. He had his head down, he was enduring the debate rather than fighting it. I don't know how he let Romney get away with the crap he threw out tonight about Social Security. Where was Obama tonight?!"

Fellow MSNBC host Ed Schultz echoed the panic and added Obama “created a problem for himself on Social Security tonight. He agrees with Mitt Romney.” “I was absolutely stunned tonight,” Schultz concluded. In fact, MSNBC’s focus group of “undecideds,” all thought Romney did well.

Charles Blow in the New York Times called him "President anax," which has to hurt -- so naturally, those at the Times, including Blow are focused on attacking Romney. The Lefty talking heads disparage Romney as "overly aggressive," even with the debate moderator Jim Lehrer (never mind the fact that Obama was guilty of the same moderator-scolding).

Throughout much of the media universe, the Obama faithful were equally distraught with the Huffington Post giving the night to the GOP candidate under the headline: “ROMNEY WINS THE NIGHT.” Foul comedian and Obama Super PAC million-dollar contributor Bill Maher took to Twitter to express his frustration. “[I] can't believe I'm saying this, but Obama looks like he DOES need a teleprompter,” he snarked. Movie maker Michael Moore joined in the distress, begging the president to do better. “Obama please be Obama! You sound like a Democrat (wimpy).” I thought Obama was a Democrat, but I think Moore means for him to be a socialist.

The lefty propaganda site Talking Points Memo couldn’t even spin it in a good way. Instead, it ran the headline: “Obama Camp: Romney Won On ‘Style’” and featured a “Best ‘Zingers’” video that strongly favored Romney.

Washington Post wunderkind Ezra Klein was sarcastic. “If the Obama campaign was worried about Dems being overconfident going into the final stretch, tonight should allay those fears,” Klein commented.

Media entrepreneur and critic Jeff Jarvis asked if Obama had anyone who would “beat him up over tonight?” “Obama didn't just act professorial, as some are calling him. He acted like a prof[essor] with tenure,” Jarvis added.

The bottom line is Obama failed his fan club, the elite "Lame Scream" Media. Were it not for the fact that over 63 million people watched the debates on one of thirteen television and cable networks, they would try to spin it that Obama had the flu and used a fill-in or some terrestrial being in his place.

The entire Obama campaign, along with the Democratic National Committee, the various Soros funded 527's and the Media are now in "Damage Control". The President is back on the campaign trail with his trusty teleprompter to keep him on point arguing that Romney gained the edge by pretending to be someone he's not -- and saying the campaign will "make adjustments" going forward.

So let me get this straight: The left has claimed that Obama was "not present" Wednesday and a different fella was up there on the stage in Obama costume, but Obama himself is saying that the person claiming to be Mitt Romney wasn't really Mitt Romney? Only a Chicagoan politicians can spin that one.

With all due respect, Mr. President, you need to wise up and stop spending all of your precious debate prep time with Hollywood Stars and Softball-lobbing TV shows and do your homework on the issues. You need help. They won't let you use the teleprompter in these debates so get better prepared. The next debate will focus on foreign affairs at which you suck!

Let me give the President a little advise for when Romney mops the floor with him on the next debate: Don't blame your next loss on an imposter who looks and speaks like Mitt Romney. Just blame it on George Bush. It worked for you back in 2008.

We believe that the Constitution of the United States speaks for itself. There is no need to rewrite, change or reinterpret it to suit the fancies of special interest groups or protected classes.
