If you have lost your job, if you have had to close your business, if you once had a home, a car, good health insurance, great doctor, money in your pocket, a 401K, etc. etc., but it's all now gone, then you can blame it on the government. The government has shut you down.

Next up, the government will shut you up. Disagree with President Obama's policies from immigration to health care, you can argue about it, but be careful. His majesty, King Barack just may become the 3rd President to invoke sedition acts that will imprison you.

While I still have the freedom to write these words of "sedition" let me explain my concerns.

The phony government shutdown, NSA’s spying on U.S. citizens, ever-higher taxes to fund egregious actions like abortion and foreign aid to countries that hate America – not to mention forcing Obamacare on Americans via “reconciliation” after it was voted down by the Senate – are just a handful of grim reminders that freedom, at best, is ephemeral. At worst, it’s a myth.

In fact, true freedom – like true capitalism – has never existed on planet Earth. And you can rest assured that those with an insatiable lust for power will never allow either pure freedom or pure capitalism to happen.

Now, with more and more Americans awakening from their fantasy free-lunch comas, the aroma of dictatorship is becoming stronger than ever. How else can the natives be held in check when a majority of them already say they would like to see every elected official thrown out of office?

The boldest experiment in doing away with dictatorial government was the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and perhaps the most important words in that document are:

… whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. …

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

The words in bold are mine for emphasis.

This was the way the colonists chose to tell their English rulers: “Enough! We hereby declare ourselves to be free.” Unfortunately, from that point forward, the apparently uncontrollable urge of some of the revolutionists to govern their fellow colonists led to the creation of another document – the Constitution – which, in turn, laid the groundwork for that most dreaded of all human inventions: the nation-state.

There is no doubt that the Constitution is a brilliant document and that its framers were well-intentioned. With the exception of black slaves and Native Americans, it seems clear that most of the signers saw it as a document that would protect the rights and freedom of the inhabitants of the colonies, not lessen them.

But, human nature being what it is, a democracy or democratic republic is destined – through an “excess of democracy” – to move toward an all-powerful central government that tyrannizes its citizens. In their writing of the Constitution, the founders worked hard to protect against such an eventuality, but no document can be a foolproof deterrent to tyranny – especially when power mongers deem the document to be “living.”

That quickly became evident when, after the Constitution went into effect in the summer of 1788, it took only a decade for Congress, under John Adams, to pass the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798, which made it a crime for anyone to criticize the government “through writing or any other shape, form, or fashion.” Specifically, criticizing the president, Congress, the military, or the flag was made illegal. This by a group of men who themselves had escaped bondage only 22 years earlier!

It was an audacious move by the Federalist-controlled Congress to silence those who opposed its support of the French Revolution. It was, of course, in direct violation of the Bill of Rights, which clearly states, in the First Amendment, that “Congress shall make no law … abridging freedom of speech, or of the press.”

Thomas Jefferson became President in 1801 and immediately forced the Alien and Sedition Acts repealed.

A little more than a hundred years after the passage of the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798, Congress, at the urging of Scoundrel-in-Chief Woodrow Wilson, passed the U.S. Sedition Act of 1918. Among other things, the act made it a crime to “willfully utter, print, write, or publish any disloyal, profane, scurrilous, or abusive language about the form of government of the United States, or the Constitution of the United States, or the military or naval forces of the United States.”

Warren Harding became President in 1921 and he immediately had Congress repeal the Sedition Act of 1918.

Segue to 2013. The founders could never have imagined the “long train of abuses and usurpations” that have been inflicted on American citizens in just the past five years alone. Of course, the power holders in Washington would have us believe that the victims of their abuses and usurpations are part of a small, fringe conspiracy group stoking the fires of discontent. But nothing could be further from the truth.

It is the government’s own policies that guarantee a never-ending stream of ”crises.” And as we approach November 2014 – and, more important, the spring/summer of 2016 – any one of these phony government crises could be used as an excuse for Barack Obama to become the third U.S. president to invoke a sedition act. Which, in turn, could conveniently be used as an excuse to ”postpone” elections in 2014 – or, more likely, 2016 – for ”security reasons.”

Postponing elections did not occur on the first two occasions, and Congress passed both of those for the respective Presidents to sign. Not so with this time. Obama, the "Executive Order King" will simply issue an order and start the enforcement and arrest of those who continue to criticize him.

I have written over sixty articles in the last three years connecting the dots from Communism to Barack Obama. If he single-handedly invokes a Sedition Order, silencing his critics like Stalin and Hitler did theirs, rest assured we will have completely transformed into a Communist dictatorship. You will not be allowed to disagree with the President, even when he tells you the clouds are green and the grass is red. John Adams and Woodrow Wilson would be in total envy of Obama.

All the playacting about the debt ceiling being held hostage by “extremists” who dare to demand that the federal government cut its spending addiction – starting with the biggest expense of all, Obamacare – is, of course, absurd. Yes, Mr. Obama is a liar. No doubt about it.

Look, the fact that the debt ceiling has been reached is the very reason expenses should be cut. Isn’t that the way you run your household?

Nevertheless, rest assured that the debt ceiling will be raised again … and again … and again, and each raise is 100 percent guaranteed to bring with it more and worse crises. But fear not: All things, good and bad, eventually come to an end, and so it will be with the debt fraud that the government continues to perpetrate against its citizen serfs.

And when it becomes clear that the end is imminent, the holding the reins of power will have two choices: abdicate his positions or employ the ultimate trump card – force. Which one do you think he will choose?

We believe that the Constitution of the United States speaks for itself. There is no need to rewrite, change or reinterpret it to suit the fancies of special interest groups or protected classes.
