January 6, 2011

I watched with a sense of ease and wonder as the newly elected members of the 112th Congress were seated Wednesday and proceeded to vote for the new Speaker of the House. When the 218th vote cast for John Boehner was heard the C-Span camera was focused on Nancy Pelosi, and, while she was expressionless, I was elated.

I started singing the well-known song from The Wizard of Oz, "Ding, dong the witch is dead." In this case she isn’t dead, just demoted by the will of We the People. Nevertheless, Nancy Pelosi’s powers were greatly reduced Boehner is now officially elected to control the gavel and the powerful role of Speaker of the House of Representatives.

I saw the power ebb from the most polarizing, far-left congress-person ever to be seated in that august chamber. She was reduced to Minority Leader. Nineteen of her fellow Democrats defected and voted for others not so far to the left as she. Indeed, it was a great moment.

To say that Nancy Pelosi is an enigma would be an understatement. She is more like a puzzle with missing pieces. They are key pieces in fact which would explain who she really is. What we have witnessed in the last four years with her as Speaker leaves one with three possible conclusions to her nature. She is either misinformed, delusional or a downright liar. I contend she is the latter.

While some would say she merely looks at the wrong data and asks for the wrong conclusions, thereby making her misinformed, I believe that she comes across as one living in an alternate universe. Living in a different world would qualify her as being delusional, but notice I said she "comes across" as that. She is an expert at making us feel she is the genuine article all the while promoting an agenda that is truly other-worldly.

In reality, she is the liar; a liar par excellence. Of course, Nancy had to make one more stand in front of the cameras and microphones Tuesday where her memory was as false as her fluttering eyelashes.  Watch this:

What’s that she said? “Pay as you go” was the Democrat mantra? Really? Is that why the national debt grew 60% during the 4 years that Nancy Pelosi was Speaker of the House of Representatives?

Let's take a quick stroll through the 4 years of her reign of terror.

When the Democrats regained control of Congress and made Nancy Pelosi the first female speaker of the House of Representatives on January 4, 2007, the national debt was $8,670,596,242,973.04 — that’s $8.67 trillion.

In the less than two years Pelosi and the Democrats have been in charge the national debt has grown to $10,331,139,000,845.92 — $10.33 trillion.

Now fast forward to January 4, 2011 where we learned that the national debt now tops $14 Trillion.

The U.S. Treasury website today reported that as of last Friday, the last day of 2010, the National Debt stood at $14,025,215,218,708.52.

It took just 7 months for the National Debt to increase from $13 trillion on June 1, 2010 to $14 trillion on Dec. 31. It also means the debt is fast approaching the statutory ceiling $14.294 trillion set by Congress and signed into law by President Obama last February.

Legislation that addresses funding must originate in the House of Representatives by constitutional authority, which means that the Speaker of the House and the controlling party of that body are the legislators who have the most influence on fiscal matters. They can vote no on increased spending or they can allow spending to increase thereby causing the debt to continue rising.

I don't know from what planet Nancy Pelosi arrived but the record plainly shows that she has spent 4 years as Speaker of the House increasing the debt load of the American people to levels never seen in the history of this country.

Tuesday night on The O'Reilly Factor, host Bill O'Reilly said that when the former Speaker made the outrageous comment that her mantra was 'pay as you go,'' he called it "simply not true," and "outrageous spin..." and refused to call the woman a liar. Mr. O'Reilly, I beg to differ. She is a liar and merely hopes that a majority of Americans are living in that alternative universe many of us have come to believe she is from.

This is precisely the point. To Ms. Pelosi it is all about her and how she perceives Americans. She does think of typical Americans as being from a different world and that we are the delusional ones. If she thinks we are delusional, then she can spin away, lie and spew subterfuge all day long and think no one would notice.

Well, Madame Speaker, a majority of Americans don't hover in spacecrafts looking for a soft landing site and live in a hallucinogenic state where all is dandy and you will take care of us. You were, are, and always will be a liar and for that I sing again: "Ding, dong, the witch is dead." May you stay "dethroned."

We believe that the Constitution of the United States speaks for itself. There is no need to rewrite, change or reinterpret it to suit the fancies of special interest groups or protected classes.
