This is the question I'd love to answer, but I hate to have to ask it.

I bring this question to the forefront four days from the beginning of the President's second (and I hope the last) term. The Twenty-Second Amendment precludes Obama from serving beyond January 20, 2017, barring Martial Law, the suspension of the Constitution, or the militant far-left's "Repeal 2 and 22" movement. I refer to the growing number of -- let's call them the way we see them -- Marxists, who want the abolition of both the second and twenty-second Amendments.

I held back some information following last November's Presidential election until I could trace sources and document factoids concerning those who endorsed, backed or actively campaigned in behalf of Obama. Finally, enough information has emerged which causes me concern.

Back in early December, Erwin Marquit, a member of the International Department of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA), told a conference of communist political parties from around the world that communists in the U.S did not run their own candidate for president on November 6 because they worked within the Democratic Party for the reelection of Barack Obama and the victories of “progressive” Democrats to Congress.

“The Communist Party USA not only welcomes the reelection of President Barack Obama, but actively engaged in the electoral campaign for his reelection and for the election of many Democratic Party congressional candidates,” Marquit declared at the conference, hosted by the Lebanese Communist Party.

Under Obama, he said, “…we have been forming Party clubs in states in which we previously had very few or even no members. This influx of new members led us to have a national Party school earlier this year to acquaint new members with the Marxist-Leninist orientation of the Party.”

The question here is whether the Communists have come around to supporting Democrats, or whether Democrats have come around to supporting Communists, and how much difference is there anymore? More particularly, have Communists come to align themselves with the Obama Administration policies or is Barack Obama one of "them."

If there weren’t political taboos in American political life about words like “Socialist”, Obama could easily join the Socialist International. It’s not hard to imagine that if we keep going down this road, some future White House Democrat will.

The communist resurgence under Obama is not surprising, since he has consistently waged a Marxist class warfare campaign as President and was influenced as a young man by Communist Party member Frank Marshall Davis.

Marquit went on in his conference presentation: “In our electoral policy, we seek to cooperate and strengthen our relationship with the more progressive elements in [the] Democratic Party, such as the Progressive Caucus in the U.S. Congress, a group of seventy-six members of the Congress co-chaired by Raúl Grijalva, a Latino from Arizona, and Keith Ellison, an African American Muslim from Minnesota. We also will strengthen our relationship to the Congressional Black Caucus (formed by African Americans in the Congress), which has been the point of origin of innovative policies including an end to the U.S. economic blockade of Cuba, and with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.”

Referring to the Obama coalition that worked for his re-election, the CPUSA statement said, “…we saw the necessity of a policy of center-left alliances in order not to separate ourselves from the people’s struggles for dealing with the far right onslaught. The basis of such an alliance now includes the labor movement, organizations of African Americans and Latinos, the women’s movement, gay and lesbian civil rights groups, and organizations of the elderly and retirees.”

So again. What is the real difference here? The same question might have been asked of FDR, especially once he offered up his Second Bill of Rights, which he didn’t live long enough to ram through, but at least Social Democratic parties back then had the excuse that they were trying to compete with Communists.

The Democratic Party isn’t trying to compete with Communists. It’s becoming increasingly apparent that it is now Communist.

Back on November 26, the former Soviet News Agency Pravda published a column by Xavier Lerma blasting Obama for moving America toward a Soviet-style system and comparing him with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s moves toward a more free-market society.

The article summarizes Obama’s Administration and popularity thusly: “He is a Communist without question promoting the Communist Manifesto without calling it so. How shrewd he is in America. His cult of personality mesmerizes those who cannot go beyond their ignorance. They will continue to follow him like those fools who still praise Lenin and Stalin in Russia.  Obama’s fools and Stalin’s fools share the same drink of illusion.”

By way of comparison, the Pravda article quotes Putin, from a speech he gave in 2009:

“We are reducing taxes on production, investing money in the economy. We are optimizing state expenses.

” The second possible mistake would be excessive interference into the economic life of the country and the absolute faith into the all-mightiness of the state.

“There are no grounds to suggest that by putting the responsibility over to the state, one can achieve better results.

“Unreasonable expansion of the budget deficit, accumulation of the national debt – are as destructive as an adventurous stock market game.”

Pravda rightly points out that Obama is taking the United States down exactly the opposite path, which will eventually have the same results it had in the Soviet Union, total stagnation and inability to compete.

It is an interesting role reversal that the former mouthpiece of the Soviet Kremlin now sounds a trumpet about what it sees as communist encroachment in the United States.

“President Vladimir Putin could never have imagined anyone so ignorant or so willing to destroy their people like Obama,” the article continues, “much less seeing millions vote for someone like Obama. They read history in America don’t they? Alas, the schools in the U.S. were conquered by the Communists long ago and history was revised thus paving the way for their Communist presidents.”

Pravda also sees what many of us conservatives have been experiencing, but which the Left denies — a war on Christianity and traditional morality by atheists and other liberals — and connects it to Russia’s own bloody history.

“Christianity in the U.S. is under attack as it was during the early period of the Soviet Union when religious symbols were against the law,” the article states.

“… Russia lost its civil war with the Reds and millions suffered torture and death for almost 75 years under the tyranny of the United Soviet Socialist Republic. Russians survived with a new and stronger faith in God and ever growing Christian Church. The question is how long will the once ‘Land of the Free’ remain the United Socialist States of America?  Their suffering has only begun.”

Hey after all, "It takes one to know one" right? And Communists, and those  formerly 'enslaved' to Communists, can spot one a mile away.

Surely it will prove to be one of history’s great ironies if Russia winds up one day fully embracing the principles of liberty while we repeat the mistakes of communism.

President Obama, as well as four-fifth of the Democrats in Congress, now refer to themselves as Progressives. This term, harkening back to Karl Marx's use of the word, derives its social meaning from the same concept as evolutionary theory. Meaning, everything will continue to "progress" so long as we eliminate the old order and traditions (read traditional values, conservativism, Christianity, the Constitution, etc).

Marx was the "Revolutionary Progressive." Lenin was a civil war revolutionary progressive, killing hundreds of thousands along the way. Obama is an Imperial Progressive who "speaks" evolutionary changes into existence without, as yet, the use of guns, drones and tanks. But that could change.

Is Barack Obama a Communist? I think we will soon find out as he pushes for more regulation, more restrictions to freedoms and, perhaps, the suspension of our Constitution. If it's going to happen, it will before November, 2016.

We believe that the Constitution of the United States speaks for itself. There is no need to rewrite, change or reinterpret it to suit the fancies of special interest groups or protected classes.
