Successful magicians usually use one hand to get your attention while the other works behind the scene. In other words, the right hand does all the moving, waving finger gyrations and the like, while the left hand moves things to where they are supposed to be in order to make the magic. It's the old "slight of hand" trick.

In his attempt to keep us focused on race relations in general (using the Trayvon Martin case), Obama is taking away emphasis upon the real issues of the day: The IRS, the NSA, the DOJ and the Benghazi scandals.

Last Friday afternoon the president injected himself into the Trayvon/Zimmerman mix again by doing what he excels at, namely, increasing the racial divide, blaming the “white Hispanic,” condemning guns and upbraiding essentially everyone but the stoned and violent truant named, Trayvon.

I understand why he is doing it. He needs to cloud our minds with crap instead of allowing us to look at the bigger issues and forcing him to account for them. But at the same time he talks about race, the real issues centering around his and Eric Holder's emphasis on the Zimmerman/Martin affair is not about race at all. The real issue is guns. More on that later.

This was a trial where the nation's self defense laws were the accused and it was designed explicitly to get the new generation of leftists educated in social change and social justice to believe that drastic steps need to be taken to change our nation's out dated gun laws. These leftists, incidentally, haven’t had an honest discussion about liberty and the constitution since the third grade.

Beyond trying to manipulate new gun control laws into existence, Obama is going to milk the cow of obfuscation. He doesn’t want us yapping about the ubiquitous outrages he’s enmeshed in; such as the IRS, NSA, DOJ, Benghazi, bankrupt Detroit or how much ObamaCare is hated and sucks. I’m really surprised he didn’t blow up a Sudanese aspirin factory yesterday and I guarantee he’s got Axlerod and Oliver Stone in a joint effort to "fabricate" a quick war next week in order to further cover his scandal-addled backside. I hear Dustin Hoffman is slated to reprise his 1997 role in Wag the Dog.

It’s called diversion folks. I used to do it all the time when I was in trouble as a child. Most likely you did too.

Obama is thinking: "How do I get American's attention off the scandals that could bring my Presidency down and how do I keep their attention attuned to something else while I continue to whittle away at the Constitution's guarantee of freedoms like gun rights, warrantless spying, side-stepping due process and the like?"

That’s what’s going down right now with our President, ladies and gents. Diversion. Saul Alinsky would be so proud of his protégé and star pupil.

Allan Erickson points out that Obama would like us all to stop talking about stuff like …

- NSA leaks revealing unprecedented domestic surveillance some say far exceeds the original intent of the Patriot Act. Feds in bed with 50 communications companies to collect data on citizens. The Director of National Intelligence is accused of lying under oath.

- IRS intentionally harassing conservative groups, infringing on constitutional rights, persecuting average citizens with the inappropriate use of FBI and ATF investigators to suppress opposition voices.

- DOJ investigating journalists: Rosen at Fox, hundreds of editors and reporters at the Associated Press. The Attorney General is now accused of perjury.

- Serial scandals and controversies over the years at the DOJ, leaving the Attorney General looking like a criminal co-conspirator: Black Panthers cut loose after being convicted of felonies, Fast & Furious gun running resulting in hundreds of deaths, subsequent stonewalling of congressional investigators, and bungling the Boston Massacre investigation, to name a few. Whistleblowers again targeted for persecution and sanction.

Peggy Noonan also notes that Obama would appreciate less attention on the IRS …

“The IRS scandal was connected this week not just to the Washington office—that had been established—but to the office of the chief counsel.

That is a bombshell—such a big one that it managed to emerge in spite of an unfocused, frequently off-point congressional hearing in which some members seemed to have accidentally woken up in the middle of a committee room, some seemed unaware of the implications of what their investigators had uncovered, one pretended that the investigation should end if IRS workers couldn’t say the president had personally called and told them to harass his foes...

Still, what landed was a bombshell. And Democrats know it. Which is why they are so desperate to make the investigation go away. They know, as Republicans do, that the chief counsel of the IRS is one of only two Obama political appointees in the entire agency.”

The best way to escape the consequences of scandals (like NSA, IRS, DOJ, Benghazi…) is to create a bigger scandal.

“Let’s give ‘em something to talk about. And while we are at it - talking about race, let's find away to take away their guns.”

The media and the masses will not only overlook the Obama scandals, but they will make him the champion who fights the “racial discrimination” in our justice system.

The DOJ, one of his largest campaign contributors, has been funding the Trayvon Martin protests. In their minds, Obama is the only hope for justice for a poor victim like Trayvon Martin in such a ‘corrupt’ judicial system.

This is where the gun control issue comes in to play. What could be more unfair than allowing law abiding citizens the right to own a gun when an underage punk from the 'hood can't. Where's the justice in that? But there is more to that than meet the eye and I'll save that for a later discussion.

Media focus drives politics because headlines = votes. The money falls where the headline crawls.

Don Draper once said “If you don’t like what people are saying about you, change the conversation.”

We believe that the Constitution of the United States speaks for itself. There is no need to rewrite, change or reinterpret it to suit the fancies of special interest groups or protected classes.
