for February 13, 2021

It's another cold, rainy day - the seventh out of eight days with rain and there are three more consecutive days to go.

On top of the grey rainy skies, it is a sad day for Dennis Edwards, a member of my church who suffered with Covid-19 for over two weeks with his wife in the hospital, first on oxygen, then a ventilator. She passed away Tuesday night and her memorial service is today. Dennis tested negative and officially over Covid this past Thursday, but too little too late as he could not visit or be at the side of his wife, Virginia, during her last hours.

I am not looking forward to this funeral. I have yet to perform a funeral that I "looked forward" to officiating. I have officiated at over 200 funerals in my life and not a one made me internally happy. I feel for the families. In many cases, I personally reflect back on experiences shared with the deceased and often wish I could go back to a certain point in our relationship and relive it.

This won't be the case today with Virginia's service. Although she was a member of the church, she hadn't attended since I have been the pastor there. Dennis attended off and on and when we started having services outside due to Covid and continued to broadcast to those wanting to worship from their cars, Virginia would come with Dennis, so we got to see each other on those occasions.

The funeral will be presided over by her son-in-law. He was pastor of the church for the six years prior to my pastorate. It won't be easy for him, nor his wife who mother is being remembered by family and friends gather this afternoon at the church. Janice and I, of course, will be in attendance and if Brian needs any assistance I am more than glad to help him out.

As I sit in my home office typing out these words, I began to wonder if I should even post these words, much less anything, as this is just another icky day. I am going to do something a little different. I am going to post this part of the blog right now, and if I feel a little different, or find the need to come back to this, then I will add more at that time. Please understand that I am just dull today. I don't even feel like ranting about the Left, Radicals, Communists, Fascists, Marxists of all stripes, Liars, Cheats and Deceivers of all stripes - well, I guess I just did and they are all really wrapped up into one group, DEMOCRATS.

Blogs are about the blogger. It's as if he or she merely toots their own horns about the things they do, say and love.

My life is boring. I read, I watch Glenn Beck and Mark Levin. I listen to Andrew Wilkow. I engage in some conversation with those who are willing to listen (they being masochistic and enjoy killing themselves with my banter).

I plan on just laying out the things that bother me and the things I love. Nothing in-between. I hope you find whatever I put here amusing.
